Main computer has a Ducky One w/ brown switches. Travel board is a bluetooth 71-key RGB Drevo Calibur thing I found on Amazon, also brown switches. Wife has a 60% blue switch board for her iPad. There’s a 1994 Model M in the closet that makes way too much noise.

RGB is one of those things I just don’t get. I don’t understand why I would want different keys to light up different colors.

This keyboard is replacing my G710+. The Logitech just took up too much space on my desk and I wanted something smaller. The race is probably 1/3 the footprint of the G710+

I have a Corsair K70 MX Brown and a Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro MX Blue... and I do most of my shitposting from the pack-in Magic Keyboard on my iMac and am replying to you now from a touchscreen in the middle of the woods by a campfire because I am hopelessly addicted to technology.

I got one for $5.00, and a terminal one for free. I bought the third one though. Unicomp does some cool stuff, so I kinda had to.

Das Keyboard 4 Professional with Cherry Brown keys and red o-rings. I also have a Cherry MW 3000 mouse to go with it, which makes almost every other wireless mouse I’ve owned/used feel like a toy.
Shitty shitposter that I’ve shat on for a while:
Microsoft Comfort Keyboard 5000, which is an alright rubber dome keyboard, but the WASD region is in pretty rough shape from gaming. The included mouse kind of sucks and has broken down to a point it needs to be replaced.

I’m typing this on exactly that keyboard. I didn’t really like the Clears at first but I’ve grown to love them. Much more of the clack than the click. I also have a BlackWidow with Blues and an AT101W with Black Alps, which is currently my favorite. I get why people say Black Alps have a messy action, but they’re so loud I can forgive it.

At home I have some board with MX Blues. I don’t even remember who made it, because it was something I picked up at Micro Center for some dollars.
At the office I did the same thing, except it doesn’t have backlighting. Still has MX Blues for being passive aggressive towards fools in the office.
Although the boss has said that he doesn’t need to come and check up on me to see if I’m working: he can hear when inspiration hits...because my keyboard sounds like a machine gun when typing at full chat.

I was a big fan of the browns before giving the clears a try. I love the added tactility and weight. The keycaps and open chassis of the Race also mean it is quieter than my G710+ with browns and o-rings was.

Back-lit keyboards can be quite nice at times. Though if you know your keyboard, it’s really irrelevant.

I wouldn’t say I am a huge keyboard enthusiast in worrying about what keyswitches I have, etc, but I do love me some old keyboards compared to new ones. The go-to on my main Win10 desktop is an early 90s (1992-93 or so...?) Compaq RT101 with modded superbright blue caps/num/scroll-lock LEDs. It’s a membrane keyboard, but it’s an early one, so it has a very unique feel and is almost just as ‘clacky’ as and has almost the same feel as some mechanical boards. Look Ma! No Windows key! :P My main desktop has no PS/2 port, so I have to use a cheap PS/2-USB adapter to use this beast on my Win10 machine. This was also one of the first keyboards to commonly use the PS/2 plug instead of the older, clunkier DIN connectors.
(Old pics from back in like 2008 when I modded the LEDs and was testing them, but it looks exactly the same now, haha!)
On my spare Linux Mint 18.3 MATE desktop, I have an even older, even earlier membrane keyboard that originally came with one of those huge DIN plugs...again, Look Ma, no Windows key! :D This one has a Macro key, even! The Macro key doesn’t do anything on modern operating systems though, and just functions as a second ‘<’ key, weirdly. This one has a VERY unique feel and has VERY light keypresses, almost ‘chiclet’ laptop key-style levels of light keypresses! This one, oddly, has no model number or anything on the bottom or anywhere that I can find, so I have no idea what brand or model it is. I actually removed the DIN connector and wire and soldered on a PS/2 plug/cable from a dead ancient PS/2 ball mouse. DIN and PS/2 have the same pinout, so once you figure out which pin should be which, it’s just a matter of snipping the cables, soldering them together, and sealing them up! :D The discolored section at the top right was where a sticker for the computer shop that originally sold it was, but I removed it as I didn’t like it.
I modded this one with superbright white caps/num/scrol-lock LEDs as I had some laying around and because why not! They are much brighter in person than that pic would suggest! :P
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

Nice keyboard.
Despite having a couple dozen keyboards around the house, mostly various thrift store finds (bought by the pound), these are the two I’m currently using. I’ve been using that Microsoft one for at least a decade (and no, despite appearances I did clean it less than a decade ago). I like that Dell for the media controls and size, and since this computer is a media center it doesn’t necessarily need to be good for typing or gaming.
The collection includes a couple of model Ms and a Dell with a card reader as well as a few Logitech units. I’m always looking for the perfect keyboard, but I just don’t want to pay retail...

I like it. The browns are noisy, but quiet enough for office use. The o-rings help with the clack and bottoming, quieting it a little more. My work keyboard is one, too.

With a standard layout that basically all mechanical keyboards replicate, you’d never need backlighting.
Some ergos might benefit from it, briefly, but they’re more of a gimmick than anything. Beyond a single reasonable color (white, blue, etc), they’re simply ridiculous.

Its just a really clean, classy design with the benefit of having mechanical switches. I would probably wait and grab mine from a group buy of the clear switched version that they occasionally make a batch of.

That’s true. I find it useful on my laptop though, as things are kind of crammed wherever they’ll fit in the interest of space utilization.
And from a purely aesthetic standpoint, any RGB board that’ll let me set my backlighting to solid purple is okay in my book.

Personally, I wish the browns were even lighter, but I do appreciate the feedback over the reds (which are really only useful for gaming).
One of the best things about this board is that it’s so solid/rigid compared to most boards. It’s like typing on an old Model M, but with a more sensible amount of spring resistance. In fact, it might feel even better than one (metal top plate, although the overhang is ... weird).
I also wish there were lower-travel mechanicals. I’m crazy. I could go almost to a touch screen keyboard for low travel typing. I had an idea for this, but I need an ME to help.

They do make low travel mechanicals. You don’t see them much but Cherry has the ML line of switches and Kailh is starting to make switches in a similar design.

I find RGB to be nifty if you want to compact some of the features of a keyboard down. For example, keeping your keyboard’s overall backlight white, but lighting up your caps lock/num lock/scroll lock a different color when they’re active.

I’m currently rocking a Perixx PX-1100.
It’s no mechanical wonder, but it’s a much better keyboard than anything I’ve ever used short of the 90s Model Ms my high school had hooked up to their late 2000s refurbished Lenovos.
